Getting The LED Out Main

Rocking a powerful LED fixture is all well and good, but are you able to productively dial those diodes up to 11? Traditionally arranged grow rooms and tents often struggle to keep up with what LED can offer. Many are just plain incapable of properly harnessing LED output. So much so that growers can find themselves turning down the lights, and effectively curbing their LED’s true potential, in order to keep their climate in check.

How then to unlock those higher ranges of LED performance whilst balancing climatic demands? We get that it’s a mental hurdle, one that seems like a risk and an effort but, given the rewards you could reap, maybe its time to rearrange the way you grow, with a little help from MotherNature.

Unlocking
Above: Unlocking the full potential of LED requires a few tweaks, but nothing scary

One big change with LED is that it has shifted the onus away from using extraction to control room temperatures. This is because in most instances the heat generated by an LED can (and ideally should) be retained. But reducing the emphasis on ventilation means two healthy byproducts of induction and extraction are lost.

Extraction helps regulate humidity but with ventilation dialled down (in order to retain heat) room humidity will start to ramp. Increased humidity can be quite easily countered with a dehumidifier, the cost of which is a fraction of that of a) using extraction with other lighting sources such as HPS, or b) heating up a grow space to reach optimum temperatures.

LED plus CO2 may equal alphabet soup, but it’s also a recipe for delicious results

Removing excess humidity is, therefore, relatively simple. But the other beneficial byproduct of extraction-focussed grow spaces is something that an LED/dehumidified climate lacks, namely sufficient CO2.

Getting enough CO2 into a grow space is essential if you want to be able to unleash your LED hounds to really bear their teeth / run at high output. Turned right up, the lights can push plants to new extremes of growth and onward development but only if there’s sufficient CO2 to satisfy their inevitably increased demands. There are a variety of means of introducing CO2. Any number of carbon dioxide-producing bags, boxes, and canisters can be deployed. But to do it properly, measurably, and (most of all) productively one input really stands out.

MotherNature CO2 Generators are packed ‘dry’ for a low-odour,
5,000 year shelf life and only require simple water activation before use (always use with lid on)

MotherNature CO2 Generators not only provide exceptional output but also allow you to control how and when carbon dioxide is added. Because you can plug a MotherNature CO2 Generator into your lighting timer/relay or set it to pulse during ‘lights-on’ you can maximise the effectiveness of both the light source and the carbon dioxide.

Not only are the results of this arrangement hugely enhanced but the savings are also absolutely scandalous. From the LED itself to the reduced extraction and the on-demand efficiency of the refillable CO2 Generator you stand to save a fortune. Dial down your fans. Keep the heat. Dehumidify. Call on Mother Nature. It’s a whole new way to grow! All things considered, does changing your arrangement really seem like such a drag?
